Sculptural Surfaces: Acrylic Gels, Pastes, and Mediums

July 6 - 10, 2026
Touchstone Center for Craft
Farmington, PA

This workshop invites anyone interested in expanding their surface vocabulary and exploring the sculptural potential of acrylic mediums, gels, and pastes. Through hands-on demonstrations and guided exercises, participants will investigate glazing, adhesion, skin making, sealing, collage, and low-relief texturing. Participants will experiment with embedding unconventional materials such as food, plastics, fibers, and natural matter into richly layered acrylic surfaces. We’ll begin with swatch-based material tests and progress toward small panels that may function as standalone pieces or studies for future projects. By the end of the week, participants will leave with a library of techniques and the confidence to integrate these processes into their own practice.
