Just Around the Corner

November 10 - 25, 2023
The Gallery at Lewisville Grand Theater
Lewisville, TX

Just Around the Corner is an exhibition featuring Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) artists currently enrolled in the University of North Texas’s MFA visual arts program.

The phrase "Just Around the Corner" carries a sense of anticipation—a reminder that at any moment, we stand on the cusp of discovery, growth, and transformation. It embodies the notion that our aspirations, dreams, and endeavors are tangible, within our grasp, testing our courage to take that next step.

The artists, with their diverse backgrounds and experiences, ask us to contemplate the potential of the uncharted. They navigate the multiple twists and turns, opening themselves up to a multitude of experiences, inspirations, and challenges. Around each bend lies an opportunity for growth and connection. The work invites us to embrace the imminent, the almost here, and the nearly now.

The participating artists are Janay Bookhart, Magaly Cantu, Pablo Alonso Cruz, Chenxi Gao, Verónica Ibarguengoitia, Sunil Lama, Nadin Nassar, Nova Niu, Kirupa Sargunaraja, and Narong Tintamusik.
